Control environment with a single dominant display

Automation

A control system people will actually touch

If the panel reads like a rack diagram, the meeting will be run from a laptop anyway.

Control systems have a reputation for being clever and ignored. The interface lists sources, relays and scenes that made sense to the programmer. The host wanted “present” and “call”.

We name controls for the meeting, not the equipment. Start. Present. Video call. Lights down. Done. The complexity stays in the programme, which is where it belongs. Lighting, shades, display and audio move together because that is how a room changes state.

There is a second audience: the facilities team. They need a way to see that a room shut down, and a way to recover it without a site visit for every forgotten laptop. Monitoring and a support path are part of the control design.

A good panel is used without comment. That silence is the acceptance test.
