The brief and the work

IMI needed more than a camera on a tripod. Audio in the room was hard to follow, faculty could not move freely, and hybrid sessions asked for a way to teach that did not depend on touching a panel.

Crystal designed the classrooms as teaching systems: processing that ties the room together, reinforcement so the local class can hear, cameras that follow the instructor, and a display that works as both board and screen.

The work moved through proof, demonstration and then rollout. Partners on the system included Sennheiser, Xilica, Audac, LG and Avaya. The result is a room a faculty member can walk, write and speak in — with the far end still in the conversation.
